Biography

Barbara Thompson is a Partner with the firm. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of California, Irvine in 1979 and her Juris Doctor from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu in 1989. She was admitted to the State Bar of California in 1989.

Ms. Thompson has dedicated the majority of her legal career to workers' compensation law, representing both applicants and employers in all aspects of workers' compensation matters. She also practiced labor and employment law, representing major institutional clients in state and federal courts, as well as before the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board.

Since joining Goldman, Magdalin, Straatsma, LLP in 2018, Ms. Thompson has focused on defending all aspects of workers' compensation claims, including Serious and Willful Misconduct petitions, Labor Code Section 132a claims, coverage disputes, and subrogation matters.

In addition, Ms. Thompson pursued advanced studies in dispute resolution and expected to receive her Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Alternative Dispute Resolution from the University of Southern California in May 2018.

As a Partner, Ms. Thompson brings extensive experience, practical insight, and a balanced perspective to the representation of employers and insurers, providing strategic and effective counsel in complex workers' compensation matters.
